Chemical cleaning Heat exchangers

Chemical processes
suitable for all kinds
of heat exchangers

Our chemical treatments are specially designed to clean the majority of industrial heat exchangers (shell and tube, plate, coaxial) made from materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel and other alloys (copper, titanium, etc.), on both of the relevant sides.

We have developed suitable chemical processes for removing build-ups, including limescale, salts, metal oxides and biofilms, as well as organic hydrocarbon deposits.

Our chemical cleaning services include:

  • Descaling
  • Deoxidation
  • Scouring
  • Degreasing
  • Neutralisation
  • Decontamination
  • Deoiling
  • Boiling out
  • Passivation

Immediate results

The aim is to restore the thermal capacities of heat exchangers, while maintaining the integrity of equipment.

Depending on the circumstances, this improved efficiency results in an increase in the flow of cooling water, a reduction in the circuit’s pressure loss, an improved process fluid temperature and, in all cases, a rapid return on investment.

Proven responsiveness for online and offline operations

The availability of specially designed compact cleaning skids facilitates a rapid response, thereby reducing downtimes.

We have also developed a specific process for cleaning certain heat exchangers that are more critical than others (Optiflow® process) without stopping production.

This application, combined with online cleaning of fired heaters or air-cooled heat exchangers/air-cooled condensers (Neutramex® process), as well as online cleaning of heat exchangers in the preheat train, facilitates the “debottlenecking” of production units, including atmospheric distillation and vacuum distillation.

Chemical cleaning of a heat-exchanger

Tube side descaling of a steam condenser cooling water circuit

A thermal power plant in New Caledonia asked CTP environment Asia Pacific to carry out chemical descaling of a steam condenser.

CTP environment Asia Pacific developed an optimum chemical cleaning procedure, which incorporated effectiveness, in terms of the residue to be dissolved, as well as protecting the integrity of the materials exposed.
